The greatest difficulty normally encountered in doing the activity of Enterprise Project Control is the need to collect, verify and process, (in a timely and reliable way) the informations generated by a multitude of people belonging to different company departments involved in the Project.
For some time now it has been found that the adoption of a single "centralized" department dedicated to the Project Control activity is perceived by the operational departments as a mere structure of monitoring aimed at verifying (belatedly) the achievement of the objectives, and produces a very low value added.
The increasing approach is to adopt solutions that provide for a process of Planning and Control done collaboratively by all parties interested in the project, under the coordination of a subject dedicated to the purpose (Project Control Manager):
The organizational solution to be adopted could be different from case to case depending on the context (company size, scale and complexity of projects handled, etc.) and requires the definition of the roles and responsibilities assigned to individuals involved in the planning process and control (Responsibility Matrix).
